June 6 was the annual Community and 4-H Day at the Co-op Country Store in Milford. It featured a barbecue, pet photos, dog nail trims, 4-H petting zoo and excellent in-store specials. Clover’s First Freshening
This morning we went out to the barn to find that Clover was in labour, after being two days overdue! We were able to capture the entire thing on camera, as it had just begun. Believe it or not, this is the first kidding we have been able to attend from start to finish. We usually walked in as the kid was halfway out or already born. Continue reading
Cupcake’s Bouncing Baby Boy!
Our first 2015 kid has hit the ground! Pictured on the left is Summer Young Winter Soldier, a stunning little single buckling out of Highlandcroft Ned Cupcake, sired by Ran-Cher Acres Alchemy’s Peter. At birth this big guy weighed in at 8 pounds and 3 ounces. His nickname is “Bucky”. Continue reading
Our First Preg Checks
Part of the wait is finally over! Late yesterday afternoon our local veterinarian visited with an ultrasound machine, and we had every doe checked for kids. We have never had preg checks done on our farm before, so this was an excellent learning experience.
2015 – The Year of the Goat!
As if the Year of the Horse wasn’t special enough, this year is even better! 2015 is the Year of the Goat, which means that this year more than ever we will be trying to take that title and run with it. All 2015 Breedings Complete!
We now have all of our planned does bred to kid in 2015! This year we will have three does scheduled to kid, as listed in the table below. This year we will not be selling any doelings, as we are still building up our herd numbers. We will, however, be selling any bucklings that are born.
